Why an Office in Rentals?

Almost all 1BR+ residence will have an office in the unit. This is not common, especially in apartments, but an office will serve as an important room for someone that would be organized enough to understand the potential. Even though most people likely have a notebook PC, it is ideal to have a “home base” for their computer. Also, if there is a printer, placing that printer in the office just makes sense as it will not be located in the great/living room. The office can also host a desktop NAS? which will provide for backups, and additional LAN? storage.

Also, there is a need to place a communications closet. As the name implies, this will be a closet. Placing the communications closet in the bedroom or living room will mean an extra door to deal with, and negotiate furniture around that door. With it being in the home office, the closet will allow for using the network, and change any television providers. The office starts to make sense now. I heard of people who would rent an extra bedroom just so they can have a home office.

You might be asking why not just make the office an additional bedroom? Well there are a couple of reasons why not. First, the closet is very limited in space. The closet is simply not large enough to provide for a bedroom. Also, there is only 1 means of egress. Even if not law, a bedroom should have 2 means of egress (in case of a fire). Since the office does not provide for this, this would explain why the office should remain an office.
