Every building will receive their own telephone number. This is important as every building will need a way to reach the management office, and apartments in the building. You can find the fictional number by going to the particular building’s website. The phone number will support both faxes, and calls. This page will define the calls, and this should clarify any concerns.
Incoming Faxes
When someone sends a fax to the building, the telephony server will intercept, and collect the fax. Once the fax is collected, it will convert it to a .pdf, and email it to building@fsp.homes, and docs@fsp.homes. This will allow the manager to address the fax as necessary, and be responsible for addressing any work with the fax even though a copy has been sent to docs@fsp.homes.
Outgoing Faxes
When the manager needs to send a fax, they will use the eFax system which will be provided for all building managers. This is designed to reduce the need for paper. All paper files must either be scanned and sent to docs@fsp.homes, or shredded. This is to keep the number of paper documents to a minimum. Unless you are in the realty office, you do not have access to a physical fax machine, and even if you did, you would still have to scan the files in to the system.
Incoming Calls
When calling the building, each building will have a unique telephone number which can be found on the contact page. All numbers are fictional numbers. When calling, the caller will hear an IVR to dial 0 to reach the office, or dial the extension number. The extension number will be apartment number the caller wishes to reach. The phone will continue to ring until the caller hangs up on the call.
When an outside caller calls the building, and provide your apartment number, the phone will ring for keep ringing until the caller gives up, or your answer the call. The only extension that as a voicemail is the management office. The tenant will not have a telephone access to the voicemail. When leaving a voicemail, the server will convert it to a .mp3 file and email it toe the manager. While this could theoretically be done with the tenants, ti will require a more capable telephony server. It’s not address just your building, but possibly 8 others. When the public foyer rings the apartment, the CID will be 0. When an outside line calls the apartment, the CID will be the telephone number of the caller. The same will apply with the office.
Outgoing Calls
For the tenant’s lines, there is no outgoing calls. If you wanted to call the apartment next door, you would need your own SIP account, dial the apartment building’s number, and enter the extension. There is simply no other way to make this work if the phone can only have 1 outgoing line instead of 2. When the management office makes a call, the building’s number will show as the caller ID. If you wanted to make a phone call using the provided WP810, you would need a SIP account in Line 1. This will allow you to use your SIP? plan to make the call as you would normally would.
