Every den will have a communications closet that is locked. There will be patch panel(s), ethernet switch(es), and a network server. The server will connect your apartment’s internet connection with the WAN? for internet services. The coaxial will plug into the communications closet and therefore will support Verizon’s or Xfinity television services. If you have a smart TV, then you can plug an OTA? DVR? to the ethernet and electrical for that room to have OTA recording. Verizon should provide for all of the local channels, and might offer recording options. If not, then the OTA DVR might make a bit of sense especially if you want to watch multiple shows.
Since the closet is locked, you would need to make a house call if you wish to place any hardware inside the communications closet. There will be enough ethernet lines that this will be unnecessary to do. Most likely, your NAS? will not be in a 5U server.
