Modern Android and iPhone devices has a digital wallet, and in that digital wallet will be a digital key. As long as NFC is active, the tenant can simply tap their phone or watch on the reader to gain access. The same can be done with the mailboxes. The tenant taps the reader, and the appropriate box will open up. To get in their unit – again just requires the digital key. If the tenant has an RFID chip in their hand, they can elect to use their RFID tag in their as a digital key. If they don’t have an inserted tag, or smart device, then they can receive a key fob. This will be a deposit of $50. When the tenant returns the key fob, they will receive their $50 back.
Since most people have smartphones, there is not an issue about the digital key. Once the device has been assigned, the device can be used to unlock any door they have access to. In the case of the private elevator for the penthouse, only authenticated digital keys will call for the elevator.
