Some people might be hard of hearing. Rather than banging very loudly on the door, or calling while at the door, the visitor can ring the door bell. This will ring in the great room, and will allow a tenant to know there is someone at the door. This will likely be another tenant since a visitor will have to be allowed in. Still, the door bell is made available.
