Each apartment will receive a dedicated telephone number, and therefore will need a dedicated telephone. Since there are no telephone jacks, there needs to be a SIP solution, and that is what I will go about doing. The initial choice was for the Grandstream WP810, but that does not seem to be in the market anymore. In turn, I will provide each unit with a Grandstream WP816 which is an upgraded version of the WP810. The phone will still support 2 incoming lines, but only one line (incoming/outgoing) will be used. There is no need to have 2 incoming lines since this is intended for the tenant’s needs, and not an extra option.
The phone will still tie with the tenant’s apartment, and therefore their extension. There will still be a building wide wifi? network for the phone to operate on. The tenant will have all of the options that a regular landline might have. Obviously, this phone will not work beyond the wifi network. The tenant does not have access to the login credentials to change account. If the tenant was to steal this phone when they move out, the credentials can be changed, a new phone ordered, and replaced while pressing criminal charges on the head of the household if they don’t return it within a week.
